After a stressful UK VISA Application it was now time for the Schengen VISA Application. Thankfully already having a UK VISA stamp makes a Schengen pass easier. Nevertheless we need to endure the tedious process of gathering information. We choose to apply with the French Embassy in Bangkok. While our first destination is Italy (Rome) the VISA application should be made in the Schengen country where you spend the most time. We extend our stay in France to be sure of this. Quick online research shows France to be the easier Schengen VISA country to pass. Italy harder. There is no need for a reference or sponsor for the Schengen VISA Application.
Schengen VISA Application Process
The guidelines and process are simple. The main worry with the Schengen VISA Application is the risk. Flights and hotels to be booked in advance which guarantees a kick in the stones if the application fails. Bring together the travel itinerary, proof of finances (100,000+ Baht in Fanfan’s bank), travel insurance and application fee (around 3,500 Baht). Book a date for the Schengen application online through the TLS Contact Website. The final application is made at the TLS offices at Sathorn City Tower a short walk from Chong Nonsi Skytrain.
Complications on our Schengen VISA Application
As always things don’t go smoothly. Our “Simple Schengen Insurance” was wrong. The insurance we bought did not cover “Worldwide” which for some reason is necessary. We are given three hours to correct the mistake and return to the application center. We find internet nearby, phone the insurance company then change and print the new insurance document. Return to the application centre and complete the application. Two weeks later we pick up the passport with Schengen VISA stamp. Next stop – Rome.
